L. Christopher Palmer, Conductor

Chris has been active in his community as a conductor.  From 1992-93, and from 2005-2016 he was the Music Director of the Chebucto Symphony Orchestra, a community orchestra based in Halifax, N.S..  He has also conducted Nova Sinfonia, another local community orchestra, and the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra.  As a conductor he has worked with such soloists as Nancy Dahn, Walter Delahunt Daley, Mark Djokic, Paula Rockwell and Timothy Steeves. He has also directed chamber groups, most recently the Fifth Wind Quintet in performances of his compositions and arrangements for classic animated movies.

He received training at the Royal College of Music,  University of Ottawa, and in conducting master classes with Victor Yampolsky and Alex Pauk at the Scotia Festival of Music, and with Donald Portnoy and Paul Vernel at the Conductors Institute in Columbia, South Carolina.
